Massive scare for Gujarat Titans: Players evacuated after team bus suffers short circuit

Huge scare for Gujarat Titans as the team bus suffered a short circuit after the match. (Special arrangements) TimesofIndia.com in Ahmedabad: What started as a disappointing night on the field almost turned into a much more disturbing ordeal for Gujarat Titans (GT).The night turned sour for Shubman Gill-led GT when their team bus suffered a short circuit while returning from the Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday night, leaving the players stranded on the road for almost an hour, TimesofIndia.com can confirm. Players and support staff were immediately evacuated and all are safe.GT already had a tough night after suffering a five-wicket defeat to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the IPL final at the Narendra Modi Stadium. It’s been a grueling couple of days for the Titans. Their arrival in Ahmedabad ahead of the final was delayed due to poor weather conditions in north-west India. Heavy rain delayed GT’s chartered flight by nearly three hours and the team finally reached Ahmedabad late on Saturday. The delay also forced the postponement of the captains’ planned photo shoot with Shubman Gill and Rajat Patidar. The Titans have barely had time to catch their breath these past five days. On 26 May, they lost Qualifier 1 to RCB at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala. They traveled to Chandigarh the following day before taking on Rajasthan Royals in Qualifier 2 at the New PCA International Stadium in Mullanpur on 29 May.Despite losing the final on their home soil, captain Shubman Gill had praise for his team “We couldn’t get over the line, but there are always things you can improve on. And even if we won the trophy, there were still things we felt as a group we needed to work on,” he said at the post-match presentation.
