The American Rapper 50 Cent has triggered a controversy with his recent Instagram contribution that killed the Indian original Zohran Mamdani politician’s proposed tax reform. The hip-hop star offered the purchase of Mamdani’s “first-class one-way tickets” from New York after the newly nominated candidate of the democratic mayor promised to raise taxes to the rich.
Mamdani, a democratic socialist and son of Indian filmmaker Mira Nair, recently gained a democratic nomination for the mayor of New York. His campaign focused on the availability of housing, the rent freezes in stabilized units, grocery stores and free public transport, all that is to be financed through increased taxes for the highest earnings in New York.
In the Instagram post, a 50 Cent whose real name is Curtis Jackson, shared the Mamdani clip explaining his tax proposal and wrote: “Where did the friend come from? Rapper also added: “I will give him $ 258,750 and the first class one -way NY ticket. I say to Trump, what he also said!”
Rappera explosion came to Mamdani’s comments on the Breakfast Club podcast at the beginning of this month, proposed a flat 2% tax increase for those who earn more than $ 1 million a year. “I know that if he listens to 50 cents, he won’t be happy,” Mamdani said, expecting pushback.
Right -wing users of social media, including Trump supporters, quickly joined Fray, ridiculed Mamdans and encouraged notes of 50 cents. Maga aligned accounts said, “Good Riddance”, while the conservative influential influence of Nick Sortor responded with “lmao”.
Despite the will, Mamdani stood on the CNN interview and quoted data from the Institute of Fiscal Policy that indicated that high earnings would be less likely to leave New York than groups with lower income, and often moved to other high tax states such as New Jersey and California.
Mamdani, who recently defeated former governor Andrew Cuom in surprising political disturbance, said it was a tax burden and more about the quality of life in the city.
