Different film authorities in the film industry in Malayalam will be a protest in front of the Regional Office of the Central Council for Film Certification (CBFC) on Thiruvananthapuram 30 June 2025 in protest against “arbitrary certification” adopted by the Council. The all -day protest was determined after the CBFC Revision Committee demanded that the creators of the film JSK – Janaki vs State Kerala changed the title of the film and the name of the protagonist.
Representatives of Film Employees in Kerala (FEFKA), Kerala Film Producers of the Association, the Association of Malaysian Film Artists (AMMA) will be among those who will participate on Monday, B. Unnikrishnan, General Secretary of the FEFKA.
He described the decision of the committee’s revision as “arbitrary” and a decision that can have far -reaching consequences in the way forward for the kinematism industry. The creators and writers who work on various projects have already contacted us and expressed their concerns about the decision of the board, he said.
The Audit Committee learned that it demanded a change in the title and title of Janaki, apparently because the name also refers to the Hindu goddess Sita. The creators were handed over to the unofficial channel that the victim of sexual attack could not be named after the goddess.
The Audit Committee met after the filmmakers turned to the High Court in Kerala, where CBFC set out in the release of the censorship certificate of the film.
The long -term solution sought
Mr. Unnikrishnan said that the “long -term solution” is required to clear the confusion of the instructions prescribed by the Council. Many films published in Malayalam had characters called “Janaki”. The question of what change has happened since then and now in maintaining such a name is to be addressed, he said.
Renji Panicker, president of the director’s union associated with FEFCE, said that the situation may occur when the characters must be “given numbers instead of names”.
“Any name of the character in the film may be questioned because it can be associated with religion. Political parties cannot avoid to deal with such a serious problem,” he said.
Delayed release
The publication of JSK – Janaki vs State of Keral, the main role of the Minister of the Union Suesh Gopi, which was originally planned on June 27, was delayed due to the ongoing series.
