Every day, tens of thousands of pedestrians, including those who have come out of public transport – Hyderabad Metro Rail and Telangana State Road Transport Corporation Buses – use YMCA intersections as a transit point to achieve their destinations inside and outside Hyderabad. During the top hours, it is common to find pedestrians that uncertainly navigate through a high -density vehicle, which includes clutter of buses, two wheels and a quad, get on the sidewalk and remains without the possibility to walk around the roadside.
It is difficult due to the railing on the sidewalk.
“I usually get to the YMCA junction and the bus stop is slightly far – the sangeet bus stop – which is opposite St Ann’s School. The problem is that the sidewalk towards the intersection is a bit difficult to get with terrible operation and railings,” said Praneeth K, student.
The YMCA intersection deals with a large number of pedestrians-including students, offices and passengers who are primarily moving towards the Jubilee bus station, which process several hundred buses and an average of 50,000 passengers every day. On the other side of the JBS metro station deals with a daily average of 13,000 passengers.
City mobility experts say there was a conflict over the bus stops, for better connectivity near the intersection, and those people are waiting for such busy intersections. Although it is necessary for people to take buses at bus stops, such intersections must be thoroughly studied to have a better solution.
“BUS STOPS SHOULD BE 75 METRES FROM A BUSY INTERSECTION, ACCORDING TO THE INDIAN ROADS CONGRESS OF Corporation and the Road Transport Corporation, and Position It Better So That Pedestrians Find Movement More Convenient, ”An Urban Mobility Expert with an Experience of Designing said intersections in at least two big cities.
