“#Operationsindhu a special evacuation flight from Yerevan in Armenia landed in Nový Delhi at 22:30 on June 26 and brought home 173 Indian nationals from Iran,” said spokesman Mea Randhir Jaiswal on X.
“In the framework of #operationsindhu, a total of 4415 Indian nationals (3597 from Iran and 818 from Israel) have been evacuated using 19 special evacuation flights, including 3 IAF aircraft.
The evacuations expressed gratitude to the government for bringing them safely back to India under Sindhu operation.
“The government helped us in all aspects; they did what they could,” said an Indian student who was evacuated from Iran.
Another student thanked the government and said, “I thank our Prime Minister, the Ministry of External Affairs, on behalf of all students, because we received very good facilities.”
Previously, a spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Randhir Jaiswal said that India has so far evacuated 3,426 Indian nationals from Iran and 818 Indian nationals from Israel in Sindh operation.
Jaiswal dealt with a weekly briefing on Thursday and said, “On June 18th we started Sindhu operation. We have about 10,000 people from the Indian community in Iran, about 40,000 people in Israel who are Indian nationals.”
Jaiswal also thanked Iran’s governments for opening their airspace for evacuation. “We have asked and hopes to open air space to evacuate our nationals. We are a grateful government of Iran for this special gesture. We are also grateful to the Turnkmenistan and Armenia to help us evacuate our people,” he said.
India’s government has launched Sindhu operations to evacuate Indian nationals from Iran after the conflict between Iran and Israel.
