A 32 -year -old man died and his mother was critically injured on Thursday morning when a private bus hit a scooter after they turned to avoid the pothole on MG Road.
The deceased was identified as Vishnudath, the inhabitants of Udaya Nagar, Pununnam. His mother, Padmini (60), goes through the ICU at the Faculty of Medicine of the Hospital, Thrissur
The accident occurred around 8:00 near the Kottappuram bridge on the busy Mg road. Vishnudath and his mother were on his way to the temple of Sree Vadakkunnathan when he turned to avoid the pothole. The bus following closely hit the scooter and Vishnudath was thrown on the road and ran the same bus. Died in place.
Local people and police rushed to the hospital. Vishnudath, a pharmacy employee, was free. His father died. The body will be cremated after his sister arrives from abroad.
After the incident, the locals temporarily filled the pothole with mud and metal. Political leaders gathered on the spot, including the opposition leader of Rajan J. Pallan and the District President of BJP Justin Jacob. Congress and Councilor BJP organized a protest by sitting on the road, and demanded a case of a faulty murder against the mayor for the civic body of repairing the road.
“The company ignored our repeated warning about the poor state of urban roads. Now life is lost. As people suffer from, the mayor and secretary are on holiday in Goa,” Pallan said.
The protest disrupted the city’s operation and the police later arrested and removed the protesters, including the councilors of women to restore the operation.
