
The Municipal Police led International Day against drug abuse and illegal trading with 2025 with awareness of March through the city’s main passages on Thursday.
It was led by the Commissioner of Police Seema Latcar and other officials and the authorities said it was observed worldwide and was an opportunity to expand awareness of the poor impact of drug use and threat to drug trafficking.
The aim is to strengthen global cooperation to achieve society without drugs, the authorities said. Authorities that underline the importance of the day and the imperative of raising public awareness of drug abuse and its consequences have also stated that there was also psychological harm caused by drug abuse.
Awareness of awareness was also an attempt to encourage health workers, government authorities and communities to cooperate on creating a drug -free society and emphasize the importance of rehabilitation for drug addicts.
The main objective, however, was to address the community for youth and educate them about the physical, mental and social impacts of drug abuse, the authorities added.
The day is observed every year under the auspices of the UN Office for Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and is held in conjunction with various government authorities, educational institutions, NGOs, to support healthy and safe society, according to authorities.
