Former Indian cricket and head coach Ravi Shastri feels that India should gain an even greater share in the total income of the ICC (International Criket Council), given their contribution to the cash register of the cricket body. India currently receives 38.5% of the total ICC revenue according to the distribution model for the 2024-27 cycle.
Since the dawn of the century, India has become a global cricket powerhouse thanks to the massive watching of the game in the country. The beginning of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2008 further increased Indian shares in cricket fraternity, because Razzmatazz the T20 franchise league attracts the best players and businesses from around the world.
Given the strong support in the cricket world of India Ravi Shastri, he said that the BCCI (Criket Council in India) should obtain an even greater share of total ICC income. The former versatile worker also mentioned how television rights were shooting during the series of India, and therefore it is fair that they receive the main piece of earnings.
“I would like more for India, because most of the generated money come from India. So it is fair to get their share of the pound of meat. It’s relative, they are economies, if there may be another economy that is stronger.
According to the ICC income model for the current cycle, More than 88% of income is divided between 12 complete countries (test) nations. Of these, 48.2% are divided between three powerhouses in the game, India, England and Australia. India is the only country that receives a percentage of their share in two -digit numbers (38.5%).
