
Two promising athletes Muaythai of Chhattisgarh, Bhavjot Singh Kohli and Shubham Kumar Nishad, provided bronze medals for India at the Senior Asian muaythai championship, which took place from 20 to 26 June 2025 in the province of Nguyen in Vietnam.
Bhavjot (–75 kg) and SHUBHAM (–51 kg), both residents of Raipur and originally from Dall-Orahara, representing India in the category under 23 years (U23), achieved in the relevant divisions of weight (–51 kg). Bhavjot lost a technical decision with the Ming of Ming Hei Yip, while Shaubham was defeated by LJ Rafael Yasav of the Philippines via RSCH (the referee stopped the competition – head Blow).
Their achievements are another important milestone for the growing presence of Chhattisgarh in the International Muaythai. The couple was the only representatives of the state in the 23-member contingent of India.
Both athletes train under Aman Yadav, director of Swami Vivekanand Martial Arts Academy & Fitness Center in Raipur, which also serves as the State head of BJP for art and sports. Their coach played a key role in their preparation and progression with a tournament.
Lakhan Kumar Sahu, President of the Muaythai State Association and General Secretary Anees Memon appreciated the performance of the duo and marked the level of competition at the championship.
Congratulations were poured from the whole state, including the President of BJP Kiran Singh Dea, officials and supporters and supporters.
The championship has witnessed more than 20 nations, including host Vietnam, Thailand, Chinese Tai -Piej, Kazakhstan, South Korea, Sae, Australia and New Zealand, emphasizing the very competitive nature of the event.
