Sanjay Manjrekar killed Ravindra Jadeja when he felt that the experienced spinner was tactically clumsy during the loss of India in the first test against England in Leeds. Jadeja raised only one goal Through both shifts and admitted 172 runs in 47 overs. However, it was the inability of veteran Spinner to use the conditions on day 5 that caught the attention of scientists.
Manjrekar, who spoke to the “Match Center Live” on Jiohotstar, said the track had gross spots that Jadeja could exploit, and another was expected from an experienced warrior like him.
“It is not fair to be too critical to younger players, such as Prasidh Krishna-there are obvious areas for improvement. But I will be critical of Jadej’s ravindra. It was the last day with gross spots that would be used for him.
Manjrekar felt that the 5th day was not the usual in England and Jadeja did not use a gross well against Ben Duckett, and it was only late to knock in the English opener that he started using the trick.
“It was not typical English conditions where the playground does not offer anything. I felt that he almost did not use rough almost – especially against Ben Duckett. Against Ben Stokes, yes, but spent much later in Duckett’s shifts that Jadeja began to use harshly,” Manjrekar said.
“I felt Jadeja was disappointing”
Manjrekar continued to say that we expect a higher level of tactical consciousness from a player like Jadeja and was disappointing on the last day of the match.
When you deal with experienced pitch and seasoned dough, you expect a higher level of tactical consciousness. Somewhere I felt that Jadeja was disappointing. The sailors had no help from the surface – but Jadeja had at least something on the pitch that worked in his favor, ”said Manjrekar.
India and England will play the second test in Birmingham from July 2.
