Former Captain of England, Nasser Hussain, did not pull his strikes when he released his rating of the first SHUBMAN GILL game as the captain of the test in the Leeds series. The Indian team suffered five goals, although it was for most of the match.
Hussain, when he spoke of Sky Sports Cricket, shared his impressions of the star pastry and his performance of the captain of the party. He believes that a 25 -year -old man has still got used to the role and has a long way compared to his predecessors.
“I thought I saw someone who found my way to be honest. You have to be very cautious, the first test match, the people he took from, (virat) Kohli and then Rohit Sharma, I thought he didn’t have it in the field because I looked down at these two previous names and immediately saw India,” he commented.
Although he had a great start to his captain’s career, scoring incredible 147 runs in the first shiftsHe suggested that Gill still have to demonstrate his leadership qualities by saving his style of play and dictating the conditions.
“It is only natural that Gill turned to his seniors, given their experience in the format. Kl Rahul and Rishabh Pant have been with the party for a long time, and it is fair to say that they know what to expect, especially when playing away from home.
“There were a lot of captains, it was a bit of a captain from the committee, which can happen in your early times as a leader, because your higher players like Rishabh Pant or Kl Rahul want you to help you as much as possible,” he shared. Courtesy: Reuters
Another key point of criticism concerning Captain Gill was the lack of initiative received in dictating the conditions of the game. Hussain believes that Gill largely looked like someone who rode the wave, unlike the production of his own waves.
“I thought he watched a lot of the ball a lot, he thought he was reactive as unlike proactive,” he said.
Indian pitchs looked toothless and Jasprit Bumrah was their only main threat. The rest of the bowling attack may have occasionally taken some goals, but tried to assert himself as a real threat, a key aspect that led to Indian defeat.
One of the biggest disappointments with the ball was Ravindra Jadeja, experienced versatile. Although he had so many games under the belt, Southpaw lacked the clarity of understanding the conditions that could be used, especially in the second phase of accessories.
Jadeja killed his lack of consciousness
Hussain was critical of the spinner of the left shoulder in that he could not take into account the coarse spots that had been built over the first few days, and the pitcher slammed for not using the tide to change in his favor.
“The word with Jadeja, maybe as a young captain to go to such an experienced spinner, and go, you know he’s harsh there. Ravi Shastri and Mark Butcher are up there, we go where the ball is packed, and it was nowhere. They lost two things he couldn’t control, ”Hussain said.
The bowling attack will have to intensify, since Jasprit Bumhrah’s availability for all tests is not guaranteed. Although the Premier Bowler has played all five matches, Leeds’s test is a perfect example that shows why only one pitch cannot win games and it must be a collective effort to build this momentum.
