The preliminary assessment of US intelligence information concluded that air strikes from June 21st in Iranian nuclear facilities returned the Teheránský nuclear program only a few months – much less than what President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance and Defense Minister Pete Hegseth publicly claimed.
According to three sources cited by Reuters, the report was prepared by the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), the primary news body of the Pentagon. One source said the program could be delayed “only a month or two,” he noted that Iranian enriched uranium supplies remained unaffected.
“The US has not yet known the extent of damage,” said one American official The News Outlet on the state of anonymity.
Midnight Hammer Operation: Details of strike
The weekend operation, named Operation Midnight Hammer, included 14 bombs GBU-57 “Bunker Buster”, which fell in our B-2 Stealth Bombers on Ford and Natanz, along with more than two dozen Tomahawk excursions fired on ISFAhan.
US officials of defense said the strikes focused on the elimination of Iran’s ability to enrich uranium to the level of weapons. However, uncertainties persist whether Iran has moved the key uranium supplies before the attack.
“Our massive bombs hit exactly the right place at every goal – and worked perfectly,” said Defense Minister Pete HegSeth in a statement provided to Reuters. “The impact of these bombs is buried under the mountain little in Iran.”
“The President without knocking on wood, with a single American accident, smoked an Iranian nuclear program,” said Vice President JD Vance, who emphasized Fox News the success of the strike.
“Now we are at a place where we were not a week ago. A week ago Iran was very close to the nuclear weapon. Now Iran is unable to build a nuclear weapon with the equipment he has because we destroyed it,” he added.
“There is no zero evidence that I have seen that the nuclear program was completely and completely smoothed,” said democratic leader Hake Jeffries Hake Jeffries on Monday.
Congress briefings scheduled for Tuesday were suddenly abolished and added to the frustration of legislators and raised other questions about transparency.
IAEA still have to verify damage
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said it was not able to verify the full range of damage, especially in the deeply buried place of Fordow.
“At the moment, no one, including the IAEA, is unable to fully assess underground damage,” said IAEA Rafael Grossi on Monday.
Grossi later published on X (formerly Twitter) that he wrote to Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi to ask for a meeting and support renewed cooperation after the ceasefire between Iran and Israel.
“Restoring cooperation could lead to a diplomatic solution,” Grossi added.
