Neera Chopra in Ostrava Golden Spike Live: “I don’t want to put any pressure on 90 meters”
When it is towards its final goal-the best goal at the World Championships in Athletics 2025 in Tokyo-Olympic and World Champion Neera Chopra says that on Tuesday it is not under pressure from the persecution of 90 meters, although it is quietly confident in Golden Spike by meeting in Ostrava.
“I feel good, but I don’t want to put any pressure on myself at 90 meters. But I’ll try it really hard,” Chopra told reporters before Tuesday’s Golden Spike athletics meeting. “I have threw 90 meters after a little more improvement in the technique this year. So we’ll see the next time it will come, but I’m ready.”
27 -year -old SuperStar Javelin, a fresh victory in Paris Diamond League (88.16 m) over German Julian Weber, focuses more on technical improvement than on the persecution of numbers at each meeting. “We recently conducted a good training in Nymburk (Czech Republic), so I will do my best in Ostrava,” he added.
Part of Chopry’s excitement in competition in Ostrava comes from childhood memories. “When I was a child, I watched a lot of videos and photos of athletes like Usain Bolt, competing here. I came last year, but I didn’t compete because of the injury,” he recalled.
His primary focus, however, remains the World Championship in Tokyo from 13 to 21 September – where he hopes to add to his gold from the previous edition. “The main goal of the season is obviously the World Championship in Tokyo,” Chopra said.
Haryana Athlete is also looking forward to a milestone moment at home – inauguration classics Neera Chopra in Bengaluru 5 July. “This will be my first really serious competition in India with international athletes. I still have to manage many things before the competition, but it will be a good experience,” he said. “Now it wouldn’t be good if I told not people. And I’m glad that in India people now recognize sports other than cricket.”
The cooperation with Czech legend Jan Zelene, triple Olympic gold medalist and world record holder was a great support. “I’m really glad to work with such a great athlete and coach,” Chopra said. The growing popularity of their partnership was not unnoticed. “When I competed in Diamond League in Doha, there were a lot of Indian people who wanted to take pictures with January. And sometimes they are … you know … very intense. So I was a little worried about him. But he quickly went to the hotel,” he laughed.
The Jezenna is delighted with progress on his side. “I am happy about the situation. It’s important for a spear and throwing in general, because athletics is not just about sprints,” Czech said great. “Neej opened the door to other countries, it’s great for our sport.”
