Chelllanam-Kochi Janakeeya Vedhi on Monday organized a torch protest against the registration of a case against priests against the priest of Alappuzha and Kochi diocez, who organized a hungry strike in solidarity with the inhabitants of Chelllanam Panchayat, who faced a poor erosion.
However, the organization on June 30 dismissed its Hartal, taking into account the promise of the district collector to plan on the meeting with the main minister on July 3.
The organization condemned the police case against priests who protested against the alleged government apathy in solving the problem and demanded that the case be eliminated.
“The inhabitants of Chelllanam have been asking the government since March to take preventive measures against the sea before the advent of the monsoon. The priests,” he said
“The violent suppression of popular protests instead of taking measures for demand for seafood erosion is not suitable for a democratically elected government,” said VT Sebastian, general consultor Vedhi.
At the meeting called the collector at the management of the Keral High Court, it was decided that the temporary obstacles to the Geobags against the Marauding Waves would be deployed along seven vulnerable sections. The collector also assured that it would be completed first, Vedhi said in his statement. With another new month, which is likely to evoke an intense high tide around the corner, the promised temporary solution is not close to completion and reveals the inefficiency of measures to alleviate the disaster. Vedhi asked the government to prove urgency and first completed works.
