The Indian Institute of Wildlife Institute (Wii) reportedly warned against the salary of employees this month, who did not attend the Yoga Day international event on Monday 21st June, said resources on Monday.
However, the director of Wii Virendra Tiwari said PTI that “no such action is designed” and that the administration sent a routine e-mail to employees.
All employees – including permanent and contractual employees – were asked to provide their manager’s reports by written explanations. The official was reportedly asked for a financial officer to “detain the payment of the salary in June 2025” until the record of attendance, details of the tour or the applicable written explanations, the PTI reported.
What did the Wii internal mail say?
The Indian Institute of Wilderness in Dehradun (Wii) in the International E-e-mail raised concerns about “poor participation” at the international event Yoga Day of June 21, despite more reminders and communication issued by the institute and the Ministry of the Environment.
“Please note that while Wii provides timely payment of monthly salaries/enjoyment for more than 600 employees (including scientists), about 75 individuals participated in this important national event,” said PTI, quoting e -mail sent to all employees.
“All those who were absent on the international yoga day without prior intimation are obliged to submit a written explanation for their absence,” the post office said.
Later, in another e-mail sent around 13:55, the administration informed the employees that the communication was withdrawn.
“It was too much”
One Wii employee said PTI that the administration did not consider everyone to participate in Yoga Day. It was the first time that communication was provided on employees who had to submit written explanations, which all had “shocked”.
“It was too much,” the employee said, confirmed that he had received another e-mail to select earlier communication.
Is participation in the Yoga Day event compulsory?
The International Yoga Day is observed every year on June 21st throughout the country. Although employees of the Central Government are regularly invited to participate in the celebrations, their participation usually remains voluntary, PTI said.
