
The TELANGANA Government was aimed at strengthening consumers and regulatory protection and initiated the formulation of instructions for monitoring specific to the state for the direct sales sector.
The initiative led by DS Chauhan, commissioner, civil supply department, builds on the rules of consumer protection (direct sale), 2021, issued by the Indian government. With a rapid expansion of direct sales sector, Telangana focuses on creating a robust, locally adapted framework for regulating business practices, ensuring consumer safety, and preventing exploitation.
There was a consultation meeting involving key departments such as industries and trade, commercial taxes, legal metrology, drug control, excise duty, preventive medicine and police, along with national industrial bodies such as Indian direct sales (FIDSI) and Indian direct sales associations.
At the meeting, Mr. Chauhan stressed that consumers’ safety is constitutional responsibility and that the instructions are designed to support transparency, responsibility and confidence in direct sales ecosystems, strengthening regulatory supervision and protecting consumer rights.
