State Minister of the Union for Railways and Jal Shakti V. Somann organized a meeting on Friday to review the progress of railway projects in the Hassan district.
Officials of the southwest rail, district administration and legislators reviewed the electrification of the Hassan-Sakleshpur-Subrahmanya section. The electrification in the section was almost over, with the exception of 32 km of section connecting Sakleshpur and Shirabagil.
The MLA for Shravanabelgola CN Balakrishna asked to stop the Hassan-Salapur train in Channaayapatna and was looking for the development of infrastructure facilities at the Shravanabelgola railway station.
Mr. Somanna ordered the Hassan district to speed up the process and gain the ground for the construction of the railway line between Belur and Hassan. He said that over the next two years, the ministry systematically eliminates all crossings across the country.
Member of Lok Sabha Shreyas M. Patel, legislators of Cement Manju and HK Suesh, division railway manager Mittal and others were present at the meeting.
