The priests under the diocese of Alappuzha and Kochi organized on Friday in Thotpumpads on the Bridge shoe coast of shoes in Toppumpads, that the government allocated funds to build Tetrapod Sea Wall to protect the Puthenthoda (in Misnamals)-Skrouni), where the seafood.
This comes as a result of damage to houses due to an uncontrollable marine invasion in the region and also the dangerous life that the inhabitants lead there. The agitation, which began at 10 am, closed by 17:00 priests demanded urgent allocation of funds and steps to create the sea wall in the corridor at the war base, taking into account the menacing threat to the life of the population.
Hundreds of coastal inhabitants and others were attended by two gatherings, one of the Pallurutha and the other from Toppumbada, which was knocked out on Friday evening. The assembly was marked by the Secretary General of the Secretary General of the Catholic Bishops of Keral (KCBC) Fr. Thomas Thararayil and State President of Kerala Latin Catholic Association (KLA) Sherry J. Thomas. Director of Kripasanam Fr. VP Joseph Valiyaveetil started the rally, which was discarded by agitation priests from Toppumpads to the place after the soil in the morning.
Hungry strike and other agitations are mainly led by the care of Chelllanam-Kochi, NGO. The uncontrollable sea entry and subsequent inundations of houses and other buildings began after the destruction of the sea wall, which was built here, after Okhi Cyclone in 2017. Followed by a lot of agitations and the government assigned 340 crore to build a 12 km of Sea wall from Chelllanam Fishermen. However, the sea wall was built only on a section of 7.35 km, leaving the rest of the section to Fort Kochi vulnerable to the sea. The net result was that people were unable to sleep in peace, the NGO said in the edition.
Since the government does not take steps to build the rest of the sea wall, as promised, the dioceses of Alappuzha and Kochi decided to mobilize the affected coastal people and intensify their disturbance, starting with hunger strike. Friday’s Fast began Joseph Judo, vice -president of the Latin Catholic Council of the Keral region (Krlcc). Sociopolitical leaders and people from different areas of life addressed agitating priests.
Valedictory agitation was launched by the bishop of Kottapuram Ambrose Puthenveetil.
