Kerala CM orders recall of school principal’s suspension order
Kerala Chief Minister VD Satheesan on Saturday ordered the lifting of the suspension of the headmaster of a higher secondary school.
Javad S., principal of Government Model High School for Boys, Attingal, was suspended by the Director of General Education on Friday on charges of allegedly sharing content through his Facebook account insulting the Chief Minister.
Neither the Chief Minister nor his office complained in this regard. The suspension order was issued based on an outside complaint. The lawsuit against the teacher was accepted just two days before his retirement. In view of this, the chief minister ordered the suspension order to be lifted, a statement from the chief minister’s office said.
Earlier in the day, government employees and teachers under the banner of the Federation of Civil Servants and Teachers’ Organization took out a protest march to the Directorate of General Education to lift the suspension order. They alleged that no preliminary investigation was conducted before suspending Mr. Javad. The government’s attitude that no one was allowed to criticize the Chief Minister was undemocratic. They also warned against the June 2 rally.
