
England’s Tempo Spearhead Mark Wood looks at the return to cricket testing and hopes to appear in the fifth and last match of the ongoing series against India. The 35 -year -old fast pitching is currently recovering from the knee injury and believes that it could be in time for an oval test in time for an oval test to start 31 July.
During the champions trophy 2025, the wood suffered damage to the center ligament on its left knee and had to limp from the field in the middle of the match. In March he underwent his knee surgery and then recommended him a four -month rehabilitation period, which effectively excluded him from a series of five matches. But wood with stable progress and now hopes that the late appearance.
When he spoke to the BBC test Match Special, Wood said he continued to bow light and was carefully optimistic about the fifth test.
“Rehab is going well. I just started bowling very easily, so I’m officially on the comeback trail now,” Wood said.
“I hope I’m still playing a role in this series, so I look at some of the players I could stand up with. I’m still focusing on probably the last test. Whatever it’s too early before.
The fifth test of the England-India series will take place in Kia Oval since July 31. To prove his condition, Wood is expected to play in the Regional Championship for Durham against Somerset, starting on July 22.
Although his return would be the main support for England, it is unlikely that the team leadership, especially with the ashes that is in danger of the horizon, is in a hurry. England’s Tempo Attack has already been exhausted by injuries in the ongoing Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, with several frontline championships being moved.
Olly Stone and Jofra Archer are in rehabilitation, and Archer is expected to be available for the second test. The news suggests that they will present for Sussex against Durham on Sunday at the Regional Championship. Archer, who last played the test in May 2021, has since performed only in cricket white balls.
Wood admitted that the return was slow, but it remains hopeful.
“I started a little slow. I couldn’t do a lot, but now it’s starting to speed up.
“I still hope to play a role at the end of the series, but I’ll wait and see.”
