In an effort that seems to be focused on dealing with growing cases of drug addiction, even in rural areas of Kerala, the local self-governing department has now ordered Block Panchayats to create a “de-evident anonymous” groups after the model of anonymous alcoholics groups. The creation of such groups is part of several measures that are carried out within the ongoing drug campaign of the State Government.
Anonymous groups for alcoholics combine alcoholics to share their problems and help each other to achieve complete abstinence from alcohol through a 12-step program. Although its effectiveness has been criticized, it is known that a large number of people have achieved soberness in this process. By the end of December this year, the government has ordered Block Panchayats to create a sufficient number of groups of “de-devastates anonymous”. For representatives of the Association of Residents, training programs are also designed to involve them in drug campaigns.
The Chief Minister of Pinarayi Vijayan will be 26 June on the occasion of an international day against drug abuse and unauthorized trading in Uintura’s government drug campaigns for this year. As part of this, Panchayats were asked to activate their “Jagratha Committees” to organize drug programs for each area. Local bodies were also asked to monitor the level of attendance of students in schools in their areas, due to the long -term absence associated with drug use in students.
Until October 31, all local authorities must create groups of community vigilance to monitor drug trade in their region and report to the authorities. Secret drug sales will also be monitored through shops near schools and universities. The activities will include Kudumbashree, Mahatma Gandhi National National Employment (MGNGS) and Keral Institute of Local Administration (Kila).
