A meeting of the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday approved the submission of a Request for Proposal (RFP) to prepare a development plan for the Amaravati Economic Region spanning nine districts from Eluru to Prakasam and to set up a special tribunal to resolve disputes related to buildings and unauthorized constructions in the capital region.
Other decisions taken at the APCRDA meeting include setting up an urban gas distribution network in PPP or joint venture models, allocating ₹548 million for Andhra Pradesh High Court buildings and related infrastructure, and approving allotment of up to five cents of land in village settlements for land found unsuitable under the principles of negotiated settlement.
Apart from this, APCRDA approved construction of giant observation wheel under PPP mode to promote tourism in Amaravati, establishment of independent fire control system for CRDA to issue No Objection Certificates and waiver of registration fees for 495 farmers whose ration codes were changed in LPS layout.
The authority also decided to cancel the agreement signed with the Saudi Arabian company Tabreed to build a district cooling system in the capital region and announce a new tender.
Mr. Naidu told officials to build housing complexes for lower and middle income groups in the capital region as per World Bank and Asian Development Bank (ADB) norms.
He suggested that each urban district in the capital region should be designed as a hub for living spaces, commercial activities and work-from-home facilities.
The meeting was attended by MA&UD Minister P. Narayana, Chief Secretary G. Sai Prasad, Chief Secretary (MA&UD) S. Suresh Kumar and officials of APCRDA and Amaravati Development Corporation.
