After suffering from the relentless slavery of Marauding waves for almost a month, which left many houses to return, Chelllanam Panchayat has now focused on finding compensation for the damage.
Disabled families may now be entitled to higher compensation than before, thanks to the statement of the State Government issued this January to introduce the minimum auxiliary domestic Code affected by disasters in the construction industry. According to the command, various compensatory plates were introduced by combinations of assistance from the State Fund for reaction to disasters and funds for assistance in the disasters of the main minister on the basis of the extent of damage and topography of the affected area. The commissioner of the revenue from the land and the State Secretary of the State Administration of the Disaster Administration submitted recommendations for the introduction of boards with a retrospective effect from 1 April 2022.
According to the boards, families with fully damaged houses (70% or more) will be in planes and high ranges eligible for £ 4 lakh. Those with 60% – 70% damage receive 2.5 ₹ Lakh; 30% – 50% damage, £ 1.25 £ Lakh; and 16% – 29% damage, 60 000 GBP – in the plains and on high rates. Families with houses that have suffered 15% or less damage will be entitled to 6,500 GBP.
VT Sebastian, a general convent in Chelllanam-Kochi Janakeeya Vedhi, claimed that compensation often ends by benefiting by well-connected individuals, rather than those who are truly eligible and in need. He said that at least 10 to 15 houses in Panchayat were completely destroyed, while about 100 others were so seriously damaged that they were uninhabitable in the foreseeable future. In addition, many toilets have become unusable after the septic tan has been destroyed or clogged with mud retreating waves. There was also a significant loss due to washing household appliances and dishes, Sebastian added.
The affected families began to submit applications for compensation in the relevant village offices. The department in Chelllanam Panchayat fall under the jurisdiction of the villages of Kumblanghi and Pallurutha. Village officers record online applications and pass them on to Panchayat’s executive engineers who will check the affected sites and assess the scope of damage.
Meanwhile, the relief experienced by the inhabitants of the Sea Erosion affected by Chelllanam Panchayat-Protože the impact of tidal floods caused by the full moon will begin to be short-term, and another new phase of the moon is expected to start within June 25, according to the lunar calendar. This leaves the authorities through a narrow window barely a week to complete the temporary measures to place geobags along the vulnerable sections for which 1.25 GBP Crore was sanctioned last week.
“Laying geobags across all of the affected sections is very unlikely in such a short time frame. The fact that the whole work was assigned to a single supplier makes it difficult,” said Mr. Sebastian.
