The day after the High Court in Calcutta ordered the resumption of MGNGS in West Bengal, the political parties in the state tried to acquire recognition for the return of a 100 -day work after a three -year break.
The divisional bench of the main judge TS Sivagnanam and the Justice Chaitali Chatterjee on Wednesday (June 18) ordered the Union’s government to restore the centrally funded system from 1 August.
He welcomes the command of the High Court and noted that the chief Minister Mamata Baerjee noted that her government had already launched a system called “Karmashree” to provide people in the state for a 50 -day job.
Congress Secretary of Congress Trinamool Abhishek Banerjee claimed that the stopping system in the state was “revenge and retribution” after BJP could not beat his party in surveys for the assembly of 2021. “We welcome it. Zamindars on every forum, “he said.

The BJP leadership in West Bengal described the resumption of the scheme as “a distinctive slap to the corrupt Trinamool machine”. “The poorest Bengal will finally receive what is rightfully theirs. But do not make a mistake – the Mamata Banerjee government will try to derail it, because it simply cannot tolerate any system that does not control and cannot use,” said BJP President Sukanta Majumdar.
Shamik Bhattacharya also spoke of similar lines and claimed that BJP and the trade union wanted to give people 100 -day money to people. “We understand that the Trinamool government has so far pushed its people into poverty in this state that it must depend on this money,” he said.
Since March 2022, the system has been stopped in the state about 2.5 CRORE workers. The proposal to restore work under MGNGS was filed by Paschim Banga Khet Majoor Samity (PBKMS), Association of Agricultural Workers, before the Supreme Court in Calcutta.
In its statement, PBKMS stated that the Union considered the command of the High Court “as an important victory for rural workers in West Bengal and a strong confirmation of their right to work under Mgnrega”.
The Union would continue to be able to monitor the execution of the court order and would continue to stand up with workers in their struggle for dignity and justice, she said.
The observation that the court order came to the petition filed by PBKMS, which questioned the suspension of MGNGS in the state, PBKMS said that the suspension lasted for three years has deprived almost 2.5 Crore by rural workers on their statutory employment under the law.
“PBKMS, on behalf of MGNGA workers in Bengal, expands the sincere gratitude of Nrega Sangharsh Morcha and its free organizations, which stood in solidarity with country staff Bengal during this struggle,” the statement added.
