In the case of a significant shock of the battery line, Sam Constas and Josh Inglis were replaced to replace the insufficiently powerful Labuschagne and injured Smith.
Labuschagne, who opened the launch in the recent World Cup final, managed to score 17 and 22 in the loss of the matter against South Africa. His long-term decline in the form this year in four tests on average in the form-he was omitted by the party.
“At the best case, Marnus can be a really important member of this team. He understands that his ascent was not at the level we or he was expecting,” said George Bailey, chairman of the selection. “We will continue working with him on the areas of his game that we feel like he needs to rediscover. We continue to evaluate his skills and expect to work positively this challenge.”
Meanwhile, Smith suffered a dislocated finger while standing on Lord. Although the former captain traveled to the Caribbean with the team, he was recommended to wear tiles for up to eight weeks and will be re -evaluated before the second test in Grenada.
“Steve needs more time to heal the wound, so we give him a rest week and then assess his functionality,” Bailey said. “We decided to give Josh and Sam the opportunity to replace Steve and Marnus. We are excited to see how they get a chance to support their nascent test career.”
Last year, Constas impressed debut against India on the debut against India in the Boxing Day test and is expected to be a partnership of usman Khawaja at the peak of the order. Inglis, who recorded the debut century in Sri Lanka at the beginning of this year, is likely to push Smith’s absence into the middle order. However, Cricket Australia said that the final launch command would be confirmed closer to the match.
The first Barbados test will be followed by matches in Grenada and Jamaica, with Australia trying to bounce heavily after its final disappointment.
