Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lead national celebrations in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, and reaffirms the global importance of yoga for physical and mental well -being.
This year he imagines 11. International Yoga Day with the theme “Yoga for One Country, One Health”. This topic reflects the fundamental truth about the interconnection of health, sustainability and the environment, in accordance with the Indian vision of “One Earth, One Family, One Future” emphasized during its Presidency G20.
Yoga, ancient Indian practice, is derived from the root of the “yuj”, which means “join” or “join”. It symbolizes the harmony of mind and body, thinking and action and balance between humans and nature. Yoga, recognized all over the world for its holistic benefits for health, has become a universal practice supporting wellness and harmony.
The United Nations officially declared 21 June as International Yoga Day on 11 December 2014 through a resolution 69/131 after the Indian proposal.
The resolution was approved by record 175 Member States. The date was selected for the summer solstice, the longest day of the year in the northern hemisphere, symbolizing the connection between nature and human well -being.
International Yoga Day 2025 will not only be a one-day observance-will reflect India’s permanent commitment to holistic health, environmental harmony and global well-being. With “yoga for one country, one health” as the main principle, India continues to lead the world in the interconnection of physical fitness with conscious life.
The PM Yoga Awards also recognizes the excellence in the promotion and practice of yoga.
