Here, the Municipality Court sentenced two meeting MLAs and seven others to an annual imprisonment on Wednesday (June 18, 2025) in the eleven -year -old case of the illegal assembly and blocking the public road before the University of Rajasthan during the protest. The convicts also included an unsuccessful candidate for the Congress in the elections to the Assembly in Rajasthan in 2023.
The Mlaas Mukesh Bhakar, elected from Ladnun, and Manish Yadav, representing Shahpur, were among student leaders who organized a protest and blocked Jawaharlal Nezru Marg before the goal of the university for about 20 minutes 13. August 2014 in the last 11 years.
Two Mla, who were then the leaders of the National Student in India (NSUi), gathered, along with about 200 students at the University Gate to protest against the process that followed for the joint initial test (CET) for admission to postgraduate courses. At that time, the state was controlled by Bharatiya Janata.
Nine was convicted according to sections 143 (illegal assembly), 283 (danger or obstacle to a public manner or navigation line) and 341 (illegal restrictions) of the Indian Criminal Code and each sentenced to one -year imprisonment, together with a fine of 3,200 GBP.
Bail granted
The court granted the bail to all convicts and gave them one month to file an appeal at the High Court. Among the convicts Abhishek Chaudhary attacked the elections together 2023 as the candidate of the congress from Jaipur’s Jhotwara Constituration and Lost.
Other convicted in this case are Rajesh Meena, Ravi Kirad, Wasim Khan, Drone Yadav, Bhan Pratap Singh and Vidyadhar Meel. The court noted that their protest led to the complete blockade of Jawaharlal Nezru Marg, which is an important arterial path in Jaipur, and caused significant disruption to traffic.
The assembly of Mr. Bhakar and Mr Yadava will remain untouched, because the legislature can only be disqualified for being convicted of a offense with a two -year sentence or more, pursuant to Section 8 (3) of the 1951 Folk Act.
Membership of the Assembly on the side of Bharatiya Janata Mlu Kanwar Lal Meen was terminated last month after he was sentenced to three years in prison in the 20-year-old case for marking a revolver at the Sub-Divisional Judge. Anta Baran District’s seat was released after Meen’s disqualification.
