Former Indian captain Sachin Tendulkar said he did everything in his power to ensure that the legacy of the Pataudi family was preserved after he learned that the India-England test of the series was to be renamed “Tendulkar-Anderson Trophy”. Since 2007, these two teams have questioned the “Pataudi Trophy” in bilateral test series. However, the cricket council in England and Wales (ECB) announced that the trophy would be renamed the 2025 series.
The Tendulkar-andrson Trophy was initially set to reveal 14th June, but the ceremony was overwhelmed after a tragic loss of life on aircraft aircraft in Ahmedabad.
“Pataudi inheritance must be maintained alive. The Pataudi family’s contribution to the Indian cricket inspires us all. I spoke to my family and mentioned that I could do everything I could keep alive.
As it turned out, the name “Pataudi” will remain associated with the series. The organizers allegedly decided to introduce the medal of Excellency Pataudi, which will be awarded the winning captain at the end of each series.
Tendulkar elaborated that all parties agreed on the importance of maintaining the legacy of the Pataudi, and did the best to ensure this result during his discussion with the key creators of the decision.
“Then we had a second call and it was decided to grant Pataudi medal to the excellent captain.
Initial decision to rename the series has triggered criticism Of the several former crickets, including Sunil Gavascar, which challenged the need for change. The famous cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle noted that rebranding had removed the emotional connection that the Pataudi family held with both countries.
The Pataudi family has a stormy cricket heritage that spans India and England. Iftikhar Ali Khan Pataudi uniquely represented both nations, while his son, Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi, Captain India in 40 tests and led the team to their first overseas victory in New Zealand in 1967.
Meanwhile, the English veteran fast pitch James Anderson expressed its pride in the rebrated trophy, which now bears his name along with one of his cricket heroes.
“I remember watching him-wicked legend about the game-and I played a lot against him. So having this trophy named after us is a huge honor for me and I couldn’t be more proud,” Anderson said.
Tendulkar and Anderson faced 14 tests during their famous career, each of which again defined the boundaries of the game themselves. Tendulkar ended his career with a world record test within 15,921, while Anderson became the first quick pitch that exceeded 700 goals in the test cricket. Now 42, Anderson continues to play at the Regional Championship, despite leaving the international test cricket in 2024.
The upcoming series of five tests between India and England begins on June 20 in Headingley, with Shubman Gill and Ben Stokes leading two juvenile ambitious parties to the new era.
