The National Institute of Virology (NIV), Pune, announced on Wednesday that it has successfully seized and isolated four new subvariants of the OMICRON Coronavirus variant. It is believed that these subvariants have a recent increase in COVID-19 cases throughout India.

Dr. NAVEEN KUMAR, NIV director based in Pune under the Indian Medical Research Council (ICMR), explained that the genomic sequencing of samples collected at the national level revealed four different omicron subvariants: LF.7, XFG, Jn.1.16 and Nb.1.8.1.
Genomic analysis showed that the increase in Covid infections was originally due to sub-line omicron jn.1.16. Since May, however, it has largely been replaced by a variant of the recombinant XFG, which includes tribes of LF.7 and LP.81.2.
Importance of sequencing genome for vaccine efficiency
Dr. Kumar emphasized the critical role of genome sequencing and isolation of new variants in evaluating the efficiency of the vaccine. “The insulation is important for replacing the existing voltage of the vaccine if necessary. Whether it is necessary depends on the severity of the disease caused by these variants,” he said.
So far, the new tribes do not cause serious diseases. Decisions on the development of new vaccines based on current circulating variants will be made by politicians after a thorough evaluation.

Currently, India has two OMicron -based vaccines based on OMICRON: COVOVAX CORBEVAX and the Biological E Limited Biological E Institute. The Ministry of Health continues to monitor the evolving situation carefully.
Covid 19 cases show a slight decline, severity remains low
Since 18 June, the active Indian company Covid Caselaad lowered slightly to 6,483 out of 6,837 the previous day. Official sources state that the severity of infections remains low, with most patients managing their disease through home care.
Since 1 January, India has reported 113 deaths related to Covid, mainly among individuals with existing health conditions.

Kerala remains the most affected state Covid-19, followed by Gujarat, Karnataka and Delhi, according to data from the Ministry of Health published on Sunday.
In response, all countries were instructed to ensure adequate availability of oxygen supply, insulating beds, fans and basic medicines for effective COVID cases.
