Jayamala actor SG Siddaramaiah has received an honorary doctorate from Nrupathunga University

Writer SG Siddaramaiah and veteran actress and Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) president Jayamala and four other dignitaries will receive honorary doctorates at the second and third annual convocations of Nrupathunga University.

Civil engineer and irrigation project technical expert K. Jaiprakash, Karnataka Nataka Academy former chairman Srinivas G. Kappanna, former IPS officer S. Mariswamy and Jawahar Bal Bhavan Society secretary Nischal BH are also on the honorary doctorate list.

Karnataka Governor and University Chancellor Thawarchand Gehlot will confer honorary doctorates at a ceremony on 2 June 2026 at the Jnanajyothi Auditorium in Bengaluru.

The convocation address will be delivered by HS Raghavendra Rao, critic and literary theorist. MC Sudhakar, former higher education minister, will be part of the ceremony.

18 gold medals and certificates of rank will be distributed on this occasion. The degrees will be awarded to a total of 1,081 students who completed their Bachelor (B.Sc., B.CA.) and Postgraduate (M.Sc.) degrees in the academic years 2023-2024 and 2024-2025.
