
Prime Minister Narendra Modi went to Croatia, the third and last stops of her tour with three nations, after closing her “productive” visit to Canada, where he participated in the G7 summit.
The Summit G7 was the first multilateral event attended by PM Modi after the end of the Sindoor Operation – Indian accurate strikes about terrorist camps in Pakistan last month, after the terrorist attack Pahalgam, killed by 26 people, mostly tourists at the popular hill station in Jamm and Kashmir.
“Closing a productive visit to Canada. Grateful to the Canadian people and the government for hosting the successful G7 summit, which witnessed fertile discussions on various global issues. We continued to undertake to promote global peace, prosperity and sustainability,” he said on Tuesday X.

In Cananasis, Prime Minister organized a “productive” exchange with a block leaders with seven countries about key global challenges and shared aspirations for a better planet.
Modi met nine global leaders within ten hours in Canada. During the meeting he discussed ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation in areas such as trade and economy.
Among the leaders he met was his Canadian counterpart Mark Carney, South Korean President Lee Jae-myung, French President Emmanuel Macron, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and his Australian counterpart Anthony Albanese.
Agree to Determination of New High Commissioners
During his interviews with PM Carney Modi, he stressed that the relations between the two nations were “extremely important” and added that the new Delhi and Ottawa should cooperate on achieving mutually beneficial cooperation in various sectors.
After the interviews, India and Canada agreed to determine the new high commissioners in order to return to regular services to citizens and businesses in both countries, according to a statement by the Office of the Canadian Prime Minister.
In October last year, India remembered her High Commissioner and five other diplomats after trying to connect Ottawa with Nijjar. India also ruled out the same number of Canadian diplomats.
Prime Minister Modi arrived in Calgary, Canada on Monday evening from Cyprus. That was his first visit to Canada in ten years.
The group of seven (G7) consists of seven world -class economies – Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the US, Great Britain and the European Union.

Modi received a call from PM Carney at the beginning of this month, during which he appointed Prime Minister to attend the G7 meeting.
India-Canada’s binding
India-Kanada’s relations have been tense in recent years, especially under the leadership of former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who resigned in January and prepared the way for Mark Carney. Prior to the last victory in May 2025, Carney was sworn as 24.
In October 2024, India-Canada continued to join when Canada excluded six Indian diplomats. India denied any involvement in Nijjar’s killing and condemned the accusations as unfounded. Subsequently, both countries excluded the best ambassadors, stiffened business negotiations and suspended official visits.
India accused Canada of having Canadian extremism in the Canadian diaspora. The new Delhi considers any support for Khalistan elements abroad to be a threat to national security.

While Trudeau was considered a leader who did not want to discuss Indian fears, Carney, a political newcomer, recently described himself as “most useful in crisis”. During his campaign, he identified the rebuilding of binding with India as a priority and signaled resetting in relationships between the two nations.

Canada has almost 18 inhabitants of Indian origin, of which the Sikh population is about 7.7 lakh. Another 10 Indians who are not a resident are in Canada as students, qualified workers and temporary workers.
