With Virat Kohlio leaving the test cricket, former head coach of India Ravi Shastri supported newly appointed Captain Shaubman Gill to take key position 4 in the first test against England. Kohli, who inherited the role from Sachin Tendulkar, was the pillar of the Indian pavement set and the central for their success in the longest format.
Kohli’s absence has created a significant middle order gap and caused a debate on who should be entrusted to the role. While many see the returning Karun Nair – the package in the test team after eight years – as a strong candidate, Shastri believes that Gill is best suited for the transfer of Kohli’s heritage at this place.
Shastri also outlined his preferred tab order for the first test, starting with an initial couple. Experienced Kl Rahul supported the partner of Yashasvi Jaiswal at the top, due to Rahul’s past success in English conditions.
“It would be (Yashasvi) Jaiswal, as it will be Kl Rahul, because I think it is a big tour for him. It’s the most experienced of the bats,” Shastri said in the ICC review.
“He (Rahul) opened up for the last time when India traveled around England, got a hundred, (a) had a good tour. So I would hope to open shifts.
“Three, I’ll go with the young man Sai Sudharsan. Whatever I saw about him, it’s very impressive. That will be a good exhibition, this tour.”
The 23 -year -old Sudharsan was in an excellent form and became the youngest player who scored over 700 runs in one season and watched it with a strong show in a first -class cricket. Shastri believes that England’s tour is the perfect opportunity for the left to prove on No. 3 – the position previously held by Gill.
When Sudharsan moved up, Shastri threw his support for gill for bats on No. 4 – a move that reflects both his growing figure and responsibility as the captain.
In No. 5, Shastri showed confidence in Karun Nair, praised the home consistency of the right -hander and valuable regional experience.
“Most likely, depending on what the current form is, it will be Karun Nair. Bats at five, it has been a long time since he played for India. Six will be (Rishabh) pants.
“I think (Nair) worked really hard. He just got back to the side. The number of runs he has in the cricket cricket is incredible.
“And during the game IPL I met him. I said,” Not only do not be a door. Just kick it and make a way in and enter this side. ” And I think he did it. Only the number of runs he has made selectors in this respect and gave him a place, ”Shastri added,” Shastri added.
The first test of the series of five matches begins on Friday and will mean the beginning of the new era in the Indian cricket – with SHUBMAN GILL for the first time leads for the first time in the test cricket and entered the position that Virt Kohli once held.
