The overall consent of US President Donald Trump remains stable, but public support of his immigration policies slips according to Reuters/IPSOS survey published on Monday, June 17th. A six -day online survey conducted from 11 to 16 June comes when Trump amplifies his immigration intervention before the presidential elections of 2024.
Overall approval unchanged
The survey found that 42% of American adults approve the performance of Trump as the President – since the previous survey conducted by 16 – 18 May. His overall approval evaluation has remained relatively stable since February and after returning to the White House in January, only slightly from the 47%he received.
Support for immigration drops
Trump’s consent to immigration fell to 44%, 47% in mid -May. A decline in support comes in the middle of national protests, especially in Los Angeles, in response to aggressive recovery of Trump immigration, including air raids and mass deportation plans.
Military deployed in the middle of protests
The riots made Trump to put military troops into Los Angeles to protect federal buildings and help the effort to enforce immigration, further polarizing public opinion.
Most feared immigration
Despite the decrease in the support of Trump’s immigration solution, 63% of respondents said they were afraid of unauthorized immigration, reflecting the importance of the problem in the national conversation.
Weak evaluation of economics and foreign policy
The survey also showed that 52% of Americans disagree with Trump’s treatment of the economy, while only 39% expressed their consent. His performance of foreign policy received similarly low grades.
Exploration methodology
Reuters/IPSOS survey conducted 4,258 American adults online and carries a mistake of about 2 percentage points.
