A year before the first dose of Agniveers, it will leave the service, the Ministry of the Interior (MHA) was entrusted with coordination activities for “further progression” agniveers who complete their tenant in the armed forces within the AgningPath scheme.
After the short -term service is completed, the portal for watching the Agniveers career will also be launched.
The government source said MHA would coordinate with various ministries and the departments of the Indian governments and state governments to facilitate the career procedure of Agniveers. “After serving for four years in the armed forces, they leave 75% Agniveers. There will be an online portal to coordinate and monitor further progression of the former agniveers,” the source added.
This program launched 14 June 2022 for recruitment of soldiers, airmen and sailors in three services for four years.
On Tuesday, the Cabinet Secretariat, through the announcement signed by President Murm, altered the Indian rules of the government (assignment of businesses) of 1961 and assigned a job to the former Agniveers at the Ministry.
The Indian Government (Assignment of Business) (381. Amendments), 2025 stated that in the second schedule under the title “Ministry of the Interior” the following item will be inserted: “Coordination activities for the next procedure of former Agniver”.
The recruitment policy met with violent protests in 2022 and was one of the main problems during the 2024 general elections. After protests, the ministry announced that 10% of all vacancies in the central armed police forces (CAPF) would be reserved for the recruits of the armed forces who completed their service. Sources of the Ministry of Defense stated that the system was reviewed.
The first dose of Agniveers will be entitled to CAPF recruitment such as central industrial security forces (CISF), border security forces (BSF), Central Reserve Police (CRPF), Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) in 2026.
Upon retirement, up to 25% of Agniveers would be selected for the current series of three services. The age category for new recruits was set at the age of 17 and a half to 21 years and by 2026 the total income was limited to 1.75 lakh.
