The Air India Express operated for Keraly-Abu Dhabi-Thirvananthapuram and Sharjah-Kozhikode was canceled. Furthermore, there was an hourly delay in the departure and arrival of many flights to and from the state to the West Asian destinations.
In an interview with Hindu, a source of older airlines, airlines are heading to European countries and the United States from India use Iranian air space.
Previously, many of these flights used the air space of Pakistan and Afghanistan. These flights, however, began to alienate Iran soon after Pakistan closed his air space to Indian carriers 24. April in the middle of the escalating tension after the terrorist attack Pahalgam.
Now, with the closure of Iranian air space, these flights went to Muscat Airpace and set out a longer journey to avoid areas of destroyed disputes. With carriers using the air space of Muscat used by airlines from South India to reach the countries of West Asia, the air space over Muscat is now suffocated flights.
Since the air space is overloaded, there was a delay in the air traffic control area even after the passengers have entered flights. This had a cascading effect leading to delay and cancellation of flights, says the leading officer with Kuwait Airways.
“We do not know how long it will take, and now airlines have been working in this area based on the daily emergency plan,” he says.
Airlines also issued councils to alert passengers to delay and redirect due to escalating tensions in the region. Airport in Dubai on Monday confirmed that passengers may experience significant delays and abolition due to disruption caused by the closure of airspace above Iran, Iraq and Syria. The Dubai airport authorities also urged travelers to check their airlines with the latest flight updates.
