Former English Spinner Graeme Swann caused controversy by calling the upcoming test series against India “perfect heating” for Ashes at the end of this year. His comments made during an interview with Sky Sports did not decrease well with Indian fans, many of whom killed a comment on social media.
Swann said that England should be able to defeat India at home, although she admitted that the Indian team had on top of the recent meetings. He also suggested that England is strong popular, especially because India will be without experienced stars Rohit Sharma and Virt Kohli.
“It’s a kind of perfect warming for ashes to be honest … India is a huge series. The last 2-3 times we went to India, we were thoroughly exaggerated. So on our own backyard, our home lawn, we have to beat India. We have to play well.
“So, without it, yes, there are great players instead, but we have pitching players who can use our conditions well, who can really mix well.
Indian fans, however, did not take the comment easily. Many of them took the social media to call Swann disrespect and show the recent Indian 4-1 victories over England in the home series 2023-24. Some fans even predicted 5-0 discharge in Indian benefit.
A series of tests of five matches between India and England begins on June 20 in Headingley, Leeds. It will be the first main challenge for a young Indian team Under the new leadership of Captain SHUBMAN GILL.
England, which finished fifth in the previous World Cup cycle, also has a reason to prove. With Ashes set up at the end of this year, the India series is expected to be a serious test-German warning-for both sides.
