England Batter Jos Buttler feels that the new Indian Captain SHUBMAN GILL will be the perfect combination of its predecessors Rohit Sharma and Virt Kohli. Gill was appointed Indian Captain of the Test after retirement Rohit Sharma. The 25 -year -old man for the first time will lead the team in the longest format in the upcoming series against England, which will start from 20 June.
Before Gill’s first test as a captainButtle, who played under him in Gujarat Titans (GT) during the Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL 2025), shared knowledge of his captain and mentioned that he was a mature man.
“Yeah, there are a lot of buzzing around this series. IPL has just ended, but even during that there was a huge interest in who became another Indian captain. SHUBMAN GILL is now leading side. He was my captain in Gujarat Titans – an impressive player and a really mature young man,” Buttler said in Podscast with Stuart Broad.
He also revealed that Gill has the characteristics of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli as a leader and will be the perfect mixture of both.
“He is calm and measured when he speaks. But he has a fight and intensity in the field. He is passionate. I think it will be a mixture of kohli and Rohit. Kohli brought aggression and competitiveness, while Rohit is more, is that it is added.
Gill has so far led India in five T20is, during the Zimbabwe tour of 2024. However, he has no experience in testing. In his career he played 32 test matches and scored 1893 runs on average 35.05 with his name five hundred and seven 1950s.
However, it does not have an unforgettable record outside India when it recorded only 88 runs out of three tests played in England with the highest score of 28. The new captain has a massive task to turn his wealth on the upcoming tour.
