The official residence of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu in New Delhi, located at 1, Janpath Road, has been renovated at a cost ₹6.5 million, the Indian Express reported. The restoration work carried out by NBCC (India) Ltd, a central government agency, was completed within three and a half months.
NBCC said it provided Naidu with an “upgraded” bungalow on October 22. The project involved modernizing the nearly 100-year-old property while preserving its architectural design and heritage elements.
The bungalow dates back to the 1930s and has suffered structural damage over the years, necessitating restoration work. NBCC said it made retrofits to strengthen the building while ensuring its historic identity remains intact.
“The challenge was as delicate as it was demanding: to restore its strength without erasing its soul. NBCC rose to the task through a carefully planned modernization, strengthening the structure while faithfully preserving the architectural and heritage elements that define its character,” the company quoted the report as saying.

In addition to strengthening the structure, the renovation gave the residence a modern look. NBCC said the upgraded property offers modern interiors, sustainable net-zero concepts and landscaped green spaces.
“Every historic building has a story to tell and restoration requires both technical precision and deep respect for its history. Bringing this landmark back to life in just three and a half months is a testament to the dedication of the NBCC team and our unwavering commitment to quality and on-time delivery,” said NBCC Chairman and CEO KP Mahadevaswamy.

Naidu held the commissioning ceremony in July 2024
Naidu performed housewarming rituals at Residence 1, Janpath Road in July 2024 after being elected as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.

The bungalow was also used for official meetings during his visits to the state capital, including meetings with several Union ministers.
The renovation improved the residence’s facilities and interiors while preserving the building’s architectural and heritage features, NBCC said.
Naidu inspects the cyclone-hit areas in Bapatla district and highlights the widespread agricultural losses
Meanwhile, Naidu on Friday visited the cyclone-hit areas of Bapatla district to assess crop losses and agricultural fields submerged in flood water and assured farmers that the state government would extend assistance to all those affected, according to PTI.
Naidu traveled on foot from Jillellamudi to Retur, where he interacted with farmers and took stock of the damage caused by Cyclone Murusu. He also studied the movement of flood waters near the Jillellamudi Bridge and viewed waterlogged paddy fields by walking along field embankments and irrigation canals.
During the inspection, the Chief Minister sought details from the farmers about their cultivation costs, expected crop yields and extent of losses. He also inspected the road sections that suffered erosion due to the cyclone.
Farmers also pointed out the damage to the gates of the Nallamada stream, which disrupted water management. In response, Naidu instructed officials to carry out repairs and prepare plans to install replacement gates whenever required.
He called for a permanent solution to the Nallamady drain problems and asked officials to intensify awareness campaigns to educate farmers about crop insurance.
The chief minister also directed officials to draw up plans to supply water for irrigation before the start of the normal growing season. This, he said, would enable farmers to complete sowing before the cyclone season intensifies.
Later addressing farmers and residents in Retur, Naidu said cyclones Arnab and Murusu had caused significant damage across the state. He expressed concern over the timing of the disasters, noting that farmers suffered losses just as their crops were about to be harvested.
He said farmers have already endured hardships due to El Niño conditions. After the release of irrigation water through the Pattiseema project, they resumed cultivation and expected a good harvest. However, Cyclone Murusu caused extensive damage to their crops, he added.
