ACB detects 90 suspicious UPI transactions at LB Nagar fire station

In a surprise check by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Friday, November 6, around 90 suspicious UPI transactions, ranging from ₹1,000 to ₹4,500 each, were detected on the mobile phones of LB Nagar fire station employees.

The transactions took place during the previous week amid allegations that fire station staff were collecting amounts higher than the prescribed fee for issuing temporary licenses to firecracker shops. The prescribed online fee for a temporary license is ₹500. The ACB found that nearly 397 applications for such licenses were received, of which 26 were still pending.

The Bureau is investigating the reasons for the delay in processing applications and is investigating the alleged collection of overpayments. ACB appeals to the public to report any request for money beyond the prescribed fee or unexplained delays in processing requests. Complaints can be made through toll free number 1064 or WhatsApp 9440446106.
