The Science Fest organized by The Hindu in School in collaboration with Excellent Moodubidare witnessed the exhibition of a wide range of working models and concepts from waste management and flood warning systems to robotic hands.

The key theme was the environment and sustainability. “Wood Vaulting” showed how wood waste can be used for climate action, while a carbon absorber model looked at capturing carbon from the air. The smart bin offered a technological approach to waste management. Another project introduced ethyl acetate as a “super green” solvent for polymer recycling and a green energy model highlighted the possibilities of sustainable energy.

Several exhibits showed how technology and biology can help farmers. An automatic plant irrigation system and a smart farming model demonstrated automated and efficient cultivation, and an integrated nutrient management model explored balanced soil nutrition.

Another major topic was safety and rescue. The flood detection and early warning system was designed to warn people of rising water levels. A hydraulic rescue model and a fire robot car demonstrated ways to respond to emergencies, while an automatic fire detection system focused on catching fires early. An automatic engine stop system for drunk drivers was introduced as a way to prevent traffic accidents.

The robotic models attracted considerable attention from the visitors. Hygiebot, a hygiene support robot, was designed to help with cleanliness, and a gesture-controlled robotic arm that responded to the user’s hand movements showed how robotics can be made more intuitive. Another model described the types and causes of transmission line failures.

Superintendent of Police B. Nikhil took time to visit the exhibition ground and found that some of the ideas were highly innovative and showed the real talent of the students. He interacted with several students and wished them well.
