AHINDA leaders expressed disappointment over Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s resignation and demanded that MLC Dr. Yathindra Siddaramaiah appointed Deputy Chief Minister.

At a meeting organized under the auspices of Karnataka Backward Classes Jagrutha Vedika in Mysuru on May 30, they warned that political developments could affect the prospects of the Congress party unless the new leadership takes the confidence of the AHINDA community and ensures equal representation in the government.

Speakers expressed shock at the sudden change in leadership, saying a large section of the backward classes had supported the Congress in the previous Assembly elections under Siddaramaiah, which had helped the party come to power.

“The high command asking Mr. Siddaramaiah to step down has caused disappointment and anxiety among the AHINDA communities. However, these communities continue to support the Congress because of its commitment to the poor, backward classes, minorities and other marginalized sections,” President Vedike Shivaramu said.

He said Mr. Siddaramaiah built his political career on social justice and welfare measures. He urged the new party leadership to continue working for the welfare of AHINDA communities. He called for the implementation of the caste and socio-economic survey submitted before Mr. Siddaramaiah’s resignation.

“The backward classes are closely watching the decision of the new dispensation. AHINDA communities consider Congress as their political home and expect justice and adequate representation,” he said.

The participants demanded that Dr. Yathindra Siddaramaiah, son of the outgoing chief minister, became the deputy chief minister in the new government.
