The Indian Communist Party (CPI) urged the district administration to create Kadambur as a separate Union of Panchayat to ensure that it is getting development and special schemes, which means specially for hilly regions.
The Seventh CPI conference for Kadambur Hill took place on Friday (June 13, 2025) in Kadambur, during which various resolutions were adopted. The conference was chaired by K. Ramasama, Dinesh Kumar and Kalpana. Sairas’s legal advisor raised the party’s flag and delivered the inauguration address. The district representative of Sakthivera welcomed the assembly while the secretary of the region Hill Malesh submitted a report with details of the work that has been done in the last three years. The conference ended with the address of the Secretary of the District of the Party of Mohan Kumar.
Among the past resolutions, one urged one to create a separate Panchayat Union for Kadambur by distributing the existing Guthialathur Panchayat to four. Guthialathur, Gundri and Makkampalayam – Village Panchayats currently under Satyamangalam Panchayat Union – are located in the Kadambur Hill area. The resolution noted that Guthialathur himself had a population of about 15,000 and includes approximately 65 villages.
Given their inclusion in the well -developed Union Satyamangalam, these Panchayats were not able to access special funds and development systems designed for hilly regions. For example, a few years ago, a balanced growth fund (SBGF) was assigned to the Thalavad Union, but these areas were excluded due to their administrative alignment with Satyamangalam.
Therefore, the conference strongly urged the creation of the new Panchayat Association in the division of Guthialathur and the integration of Gundri, Makkampaayam and Thicalur Panchayats – currently under Thalavadi Union.
