Three people, including a Travel Ticket Examiner (TTE), were injured after a portion of a platform shed collapsed at Lucknow Junction railway station on Friday (May 29, 2026), officials said.
The incident took place at around 8.15am on platform number five.
According to railway officials, passengers were waiting on the platform when a large part of the shed collapsed and partially fell towards the railway track, causing panic among commuters.

The injured were identified as TTE Amit and passengers Akhilesh and Sahil. Personnel of the Railway Protection Force (RPF), Government Railway Police (GRP) and railway officials rushed to the spot and rescued all three after removing the collapsed structure.
All three were admitted to hospital. Officials said the TTE sustained serious leg injuries, while one passenger sustained a shoulder injury and another suffered a hand injury.
Railway authorities said the oncoming train was stopped at an external signal after the incident and was allowed to enter the platform only after the situation was under control.
Sources said renovation and construction of the concourse is underway at the station and part of the shed at platform number five has already been dismantled. The collapsed section was also proposed for removal.
Preliminary findings indicated that rusting of iron structures along the edges of the shed and lack of maintenance may have contributed to the collapse.
Northern Railway Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Sunil Kumar Verma visited the hospital along with senior railway officials and inquired about the condition of the injured.
The DRM told reporters that an inquiry into the incident has been ordered and strict action will be taken against the agency and railway employees found responsible.
A three-member commission headed by the chief engineer was appointed to investigate the incident. A preliminary investigation indicated possible negligence on the part of the contractor, officials said.
