A pedestrian died after being hit by a bus in Kochi

A 30-year-old woman was killed at Kuzhikkattumoola near Kakkanad on Wednesday after she was hit by a private bus allegedly traveling at excessive speed.

The deceased is Akshara S., a resident of Kusumagiri, Kakkanad, and a native of Tholur, Thrissur. Infopark police arrested bus driver Binoy on charges of murder, not amounting to murder.

The accident happened on Kakkanad-Infopark Road in Kuzhikkattumoola around 8:20 am when Akshara was walking home from the gym. A bus coming from the opposite direction hit her and ran her over.

Although she was taken to a nearby private hospital, she succumbed to her injuries around 11:00 am, according to the first information report.
