BJP senior leader Ravi Shankar Prasad on Wednesday (Nov 4, 2026) challenged Congress president Rahul Gandhi over alleged election irregularities and asked the opposition leader if he would resign as an MP.
Addressing a rally during a conclave organized by the BJP over the anti-Sikh riots, former Union minister and MP Prasad criticized Mr Gandhi for questioning the special intensive revision of electoral rolls.
“Rahul Gandhi is still talking a lot about SIR. I don’t know how much he understands SIR. Rahul Gandhi, today you are saying that 2024 elections were also bad. I am asking a counter question — Are you resigning? You became MP in 2024, everyone else from your party is also resigning? Congress and Himachal Telangun Prade government are resigning? Karnataka has also resigned?” he asked.
“Now they are going after Gyanesh Kumar (Chief Election Commissioner). Who will explain to him that Mr. Kumar was not in the Election Commission in 2024? Rahul Gandhi is not doing his homework or understanding the facts. I was informed that all parties in Punjab were united on SIR and praised it,” he said.
At a rally in Delhi on Sunday (November 1, 2026), INDIA’s opposition bloc called for the BJP to be ousted from power over “vote chori” charges, with Rahul Gandhi saying that Gyanesh Kumar would be removed and sent to jail for treason in future and that Prime Minister Amit Shah and the Home Minister would not be able to escape the law.
Describing the 2024 Lok Sabha polls as “illegal”, Mr Gandhi pointed out that the Election Commission removed 15% of voters from the electoral rolls when the margin between the NDA and the INDIA Bloc was just 3% of the votes in the last general election.
The Punjab BJP on Wednesday (November 4, 2026) organized its ‘Zakhm 84 De’ (1984 Injuries) conclave to bring people face to face with what organizers described as the “horrifying truth” of the massacre.
The BJP said it was holding a conclave to bring together survivors, eyewitnesses, legal experts and political leaders to discuss the circumstances surrounding the massacre, the alleged conspiracy, legal battles and rehabilitation of the victims.
