Palaniswami criticizes the TVK regime for being “lethargic” in dealing with onions
All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami on Tuesday slammed the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam-led regime for being “lethargic” in procuring the essential commodity – onion.
Mr. Palaniswami, in his social media post, referred to reports of rotting onions at a warehouse in Korrukkupet following the delay in unloading onions from trucks for the past three days. Although the state government said it did not receive 450 tonnes of onions from the National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India (NAFED) due to poor quality, the latter claimed that it is yet to receive the returned consignment. Only the people of the state were left to suffer in the process, Mr. Palaniswami alleged.
He urged the government to approach the issue of price regulation with caution.
