Telangana High Court extends stay on single judge order to remove IPS officer AV Ranganath as HYDRAA commissioner
A single judge’s order to the state government to relieve IPS officer AV Ranganath as HYDRAA commissioner, which was suspended by a division bench of the Telangana High Court two months ago, has been extended till further orders.
Passing interim directions in two appeals filed by AV Ranganath, a bench of Justice Moushumi Bhattacharya and Justice Renuka Yara also vacated the court’s earlier direction restraining the HYDRAA Commissioner from interfering with the ownership of land by M/s Shanta Sriram Constructions Private Limited at Lothkunta Malkajgi Medrich.
A single judge of the High Court issued an order on July 27 directing the government to remove the IPS officer from the post of HYDRAA commissioner following a contempt of court case filed by a construction company alleging that the HYDRAA commissioner and his staff were illegally interfering in the matter despite specific orders of the High Court.
On September 1, 2026, the Supreme Court panel suspended the execution of the self-judicial order. The two contempt appeals filed by Ranganath were posted to 20 January 2027 for hearing.
