The National Highway Office of the India (Nhai), which quotes preliminary observations of IITS experts, reported that the collapse of the non -defective section of the NH 66 in the Malappuram Koriiáda was probably due to extensive contamination on the left side of the road.
The NHAI advisor made a submission in response to a question from a court that considered a dose of petitions concerning the deteriorating road conditions throughout the state.
The court was looking for a timeline to complete the NH 66 section across Kerala and expressed concern about the ongoing hardships that citizens face due to poor state of national highways.
The lawyer informed the court that although the work on the Koriyad section was stopped after the incident, the construction situation was on other NH 66 corridors.
Nhai was in the process of examining problematic areas and acknowledged that while some problems were unexpected, others arose from the unique terrain of Kerala, he said, looking for three weeks to provide a comprehensive response.
The court postponed the petition for further consideration.
