According to the Gujarat Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), five specially designed AC Vista Dome buses have been manufactured for the project in accordance with international standards. The first service was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Ekta Nagar, where the statue is located Unity. The prime minister was also traveling on board one of the buses.
Transparent dome roof and panoramic views
The newly introduced buses feature a sky-view transparent roof with a distinctive dome design that allows passengers an unobstructed view of the surrounding countryside while traveling in air-conditioned comfort.
Each bus has a capacity of 23 passengers along with a separate seat for the driver. The passenger cabin is equipped with swivel and fully adjustable reclining seats for added comfort during sightseeing trips.
The buses also offer several premium amenities, including LED smart TVs, CCTV cameras, coffee and tea making facilities, mini fridges and mobile charging stations.
Safety features include an advanced fire detection and suppression system. The buses are also equipped with tempered glass and emergency hammers to facilitate the evacuation of passengers in the event of an emergency.
The Statue of Unity service will be extended to other destinations
The first Vista Dome bus service was launched in Ekta Nagar, home to the Statue of Unity, one of Gujarat’s major tourist attractions.
Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi said that similar services will be introduced gradually in other prominent tourist destinations and historical routes across the state.
The proposed extension is expected to provide tourists with an opportunity to explore the scenic spots and historical monuments of Gujarat through specialized sightseeing transport.
The exteriors of the buses were decorated with graphics representing some of the state’s prominent attractions. These include the Statue of Unity, Akshardham Temple, Somnath Temple, Dwarka Temple, Gir National Park, Adalaj Stepwell, White Rann of Dhordo, Tarnetar Fair and Vijay Vilas Palace.
Online ticket booking through GSRTC
Tourists who are interested to try the service can book tickets through the official website of GSRTC. The online booking facility is expected to make the service available to visitors planning trips to the Statue of Unity and other tourist destinations.
Of the five buses planned as part of the initiative, two have been inaugurated so far. The remaining three are due to be introduced within the next two months.
Gujarat is trying to boost tourism infrastructure
