The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in Maharashtra conducted inspections across the state between October 28 and 31. The ministry revoked 19 licenses. It seized items weighing 3,53,000 kg. The items were worth ₹9.01 crore. The drive resulted in 13 FIRs and 16 arrests. The department was headed by FDA Commissioner Tukaram Munde during this period.
The FDA seized 2,279.7 liters of ghee worth ₹ 20.20 lakh from Divya Mahavitarak, a Patanjali distributor, in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. Officials believe the stock may have been mislabeled or tampered with.
The department took 1,44,218 kg of crude oil from Avenue Supermarts in Bhiwandi. It also took 20,560 kg of items from Amin Traders in Satara.
The department closed 7 establishments and confiscated 6 vehicles. The actions took place due to insufficient hygiene and violation of safety rules. These establishments include units that manufacture namkeen, sweets and spices. These units operate in Mumbai, Amravati and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.
